Guarding the Three...

Why would our gaurds need to be bigger? UNI's aren't big.

We have DD and CR.

I think it's more important to have talent(which includes shooting) and toughness at the guard spot

Why not? And, I refuse to use UNI as a program to aspire to. We must set our sights higher than UNI.

UNi gets away with short guards for two reasons. First, they are great shooters. Second, they have good inside play. If their shorter guards get beat on defense, their inside players are good enough to provide adequate help defense. Offensively, their inside/outside game allows their short guards to get open shots.

I didn't say we should aspire to UNI. But their gaurds are not big and they have one loss in the conference. So it can be done. I just don't think we need to be big there to win in our conference. It wouldn't hurt either...
but there are other components to our team that need adjustments too.

See post by number 9 above. I think he has the right idea. You are also right. Thanks.

Probably not a bad idea! "Go calc Go!" "Get, Linear, Yes!" New chants... Hey, what happened last night to my buddy Higgins? Normally he controls the game and lets the players play, but last night the other refs controlled the flow and blew whistles all night long. I'm dissappointed in my favorite ref. Did you give him an earfull???

I certainly did on a couple of occasions, but Gerry Pollard draws my ire like no one else. Worst ref in the Valley.

Last 3 years.... is that all?

;-)

Nah! This goes back to Parkers fractured foot and Zobrists sprained ankle against Nova.
It went from there to Dye, Robinson, Gilbert,Gillingham, Crouch, Ruffin, and Crouch again.
Now Warren and Egolf.
Probably why Wilkins will never come here, he knows he'll get injured!:-P

What about Eddie's popped out eye socket in an exhibition - does that one count?

Bradley's 3-point defense has been near the best in the MVC all year. So what you are saying just isn't true.

I haven't had time to look at the numbers against conference teams, but this is pretty telling of our three-point defense.......

Having short guards isn't the only reason we are bad at defending the three. When a team is poor defensively inside they have to get help inside from the guards. This happened quite a bit from UNI. Hopefully getting some real big men in the program will improve this.

How about that call in the second half RIGHT in front of him...the UNI guys was out of bounds and tossed it back in with NO call...the crowd went wild. Quite possibly the worst call I have ever witnessed.

But we seem to give them up when it hurts us the most. We don't seem to defend the 3 when it matters the most.

The conference games have been a much different story than the non-conference games. We've only allowed two conference opponents to outperform their season average.....

And thats why we lost to them. But I would be willing to bet anyone if you were to bring those two guys who made those 5 3's late in the game Tuesday night and had no one on them and have them shoot those three from the same spots they wouldn't make all 5 in a roll again. Did some one say winning was not about luck:doubt::roll: Thanks shaunguth
