I dont blame the coaching

I actually did think about that when I was typing "he".

It seems a female coach could and would be able to better communicate with today's players. Most seem a little more sensitive then in years past!;-) BTW..Pat Summitt is one heck of a coach and I would bet she could coach as well as any man out there. Her teams play at a very high intelligent level.

Who said anyone would get a 'free pass'? He would and should be judged by the same standards as his predecessors. If he doesn't make a Sweet 16 but wins the MVC, he'll be fine in my book. Les could coach forever if he had us in contention annually, Sweet 16 or no Sweet 16. You act like it's something personal.

You seem like pretty big BU homer, are you going to go after the next guy because he's not the immortal Jim Les? I highly doubt that you will...

No.....I'll support whatever decision is made by the people that are in position to actually make the decision.

I'm just saying, if JL is such a bad coach then why would the next guy get off the hook by not being as successful as JL by year 5? As long as we win the MVC, he's ok? Where did Drake finish up after they won the MVC? I would personally rather be where we are than ever finishing at the bottom of this crappy conference!

What if they decided to drop down to Division II? Or fold the athletic program altogether? Would you support that?

I was under the impression you were talking about a coaching change, but I guess not.

Yes, I would continue going to Bradley games even if they were Division II.

However, it would be rather difficult if for some apparent reason they were to fold the athletic program altogether.

C'Mon BB...you already know the answer...

Our system and play scheme gives no reason for a good big to want to come to Bradley...

Our system for big men is an absolute JOKE!

Is it our "system" or the fact we don't have a true 5. JL switched to the current system after POB left. I think he would go back to 2006 style IF we had a true big. Had AT developed liked he planned it would be different IMO.

A huge contract extention worth tons of money, is that enough or should we have erected a statue next to Lydia in the quad?

Things haven't worked out, so far, as much as we would have liked, but most of us agreed with the contract extension because he and his team put BU back on the basketball map. JL isn't the first coach to be rewarded because of a successful season. His contract isn't up yet, so he has time to turn things around and I would hope most Braves fans would hope he can.

I was, but it was more to make the point that it appears some of the support is blind and/or unconditional support.

Just because I would "support" a Division II Bradley team does not mean I would agree with the decision. Same goes for a coaching change.

It is BRADLEY, not any one person.

I said that in the context of the question "what credit did he get when we won" people who dont think he gets enough credit forget that he is paid a salary that puts him in the top 1% of the world plus dozens of other freebies and benfits for cocahing basketball.

That is the credit he gets, does anyone think he should get more?

Beninator it is alot more useful to have an assistant that has connection to Adidas and Nike's AAU league then to any one area. How do you thing Calipari does it? It's a much different recruiting war out there then taking on local HS coaches. Major shoe companies do have influence where players land.

I would not want this kind of sleaze at BU.

I do not want someone who breaks rules and bribes players.

But I DO want someone who will actually compete for Valley titles.

I love all the time you guys waste talking about JL and his job. Do you understand nobody is listening to you? All you "Upper Bowl fans" (including Kirk Wessler) that don't even belong to the Braves Club, but try to sneak in to a pre-game party for a free beer, are wasting your time talking negative about the program. Until the BSS folks start talking about looking for a new coach, JL's job is fine. Get over yourselves. See you at the next pre-game party - If you can get in?

Yes! Because the BSS=Superiority. The great unwashed masses that actually drive the economy of the program are just that, riff-raff.

Take off the last S there and that'll be just what your argument there is...

Complete BS

Could this again be a slight bit more hyperbole? Or maybe a little class-envy?

I am familiar with some of the riff-raff you refer to, and there are people who as highly-successful individuals and corporations have willingly donated many millions of dollars to Bradley for the improvment of campus facilities, and to allow the coaches of all the sports to recruit and stay competetive at the D1 level. And none of them ask for anything in return.
Without these riff-raff, Bradley would still be playing soccer on a high-school field, baseball would still be at old Meinen Field or down in Bradley Park, and we would be playing basketball at a Division II or more likely a Division III level, and would still be in the (now) 60+ year old Robertson Fieldhouse.

Wrong.

BTW - There were BSS people who meet with Glasser regularly who were talking about a new coach before the season even started if JL didn't win anything this year. You can PM me or email me if you think I am full of it, because I am not.

I am sure you are correct, BB. The BSS fans are not much different than the regular fans in their feelings about the coaching situation.
