Mens BB game in new facility

Our highest attendance at a postseason game in the last four years was 9,000. Given that the BU press release says the capacity for sporting events at the new arena is 4,200 and all home postseason games will be played there......that is a total of 4,800 fans that would have went to that game.

So how does a postseason championship game against a former conference rival equate to a low-interest regular season game against Jackson State or Presbyterian?

The walkup for Presbyterian last year was 185. And actual attendance was likely under 5K. (Yes, I know announced was around 8K. . .but that is tickets sold, not actual)

I've stated more than once that I'm slightly less concerned with playing a "lesser" non-conference regular season game than I am with playing EVERY postseason home game at the new arena. Unless, of course, we only have 4-5 home games and one of those is played at the new arena!

Besides, I didn't think anyone cared about the "EIEIO" games. Amazing that one of them drew 9,000 fans.

Let's not name names or point fingers, but there were (and still are) quite a few people who derided the CBI and CIT tournaments, continue to mock Bradley's participation in them, and still don't want to allow anyone to count the wins Bradley achieved in them, or refer to them as "postseason wins".

There were arguments for years on this board about the new arena. When it would be built, who would use it, how BU was gonna pay for it, where was it gonna be located. Now, finally, it is done, and it is gorgeous, and everyone loves it, then you log on to the board, AND NOW WE ARE ARGUING ABOUT WHO GETS TO GO TO A GAME THAT IS NOT EVEN SCHEDULED YET! I LOVE YOU GUYS!

Where is this figure coming from? Seriously? The games that will likely be played at the new facility won't be in such demand.

As I've pointed out before, the games that will be played there in recent years have had about 4800-5500.

If seating and SRO is absolutely no more than 4200 that's 1300 AT WORST. Even if you push the number to 6000, it's still less than HALF (1800) what you are claiming. If SRO pushes it to 5000, it's probable no one gets left out.

Furthermore, that 4800 number is based on the approximate number of season ticket holders that attend every single game, and does not take into account those who won't go to extra games, period. Never mind taking corporate held seats out of the equation.

I understand that 1 may be too many. But let's not exaggerate.

All games are in demand if you are a season ticket holder. Quit trying to bow down to the ones you have to beg to come to a game. Just play the games in a Division 1 arena and we have one of the finest in downtown Peoria.

The Admin are the ones who mentioned playing a game there. Not the guys on this board. Not arguing just giving opinions.

Having a regular season mens BB game in the new facility is a terrible idea and would almost certainly create great anamosity among season ticket holders and BU fans.
I have had season tickets and been an annual contributor for over 40 years and I would take such a move as an affront to my loyalty and support over the years. IMO there has to be an unstated agenda in all of this talk from the AD and others about doing this. My suggestion would be that they back off, wait a year or two, and then take another look if they truly want to do this.
Additionally, they need to understand that the BB program has been nothing but mediocre over the past 10 years and we need to upgrade our success level in terms of MVC finishes and post season tournaments other than meaningless second rate events.
Thus far, we are making progress with a teriffic new facility and a wonderful upgrade in our scheduling. Now, we need to Win, Win, Win and not stymie the progress we have made with dumb moves like a regular season home game in a 4,000 seat arena!

Did Wizard become an admin?????

Not much else to discuss/argue/provide opinions on re BU MBB on this Forum during the dog days of August....Once the fires died out on the Duke game and recruiting for next year, all that is left is to wait for practices to begin!

here here......

Seriously how is this true? I love how on here, the Admins bring up every topic and some see themselves as these 'valiant defenders of truth and reality.' Give it a rest, look at who is starting the topics. Not to mention that even IF the admins (DC and MMob) were starting topics, doesn't it make sense that the admins (generally some of the most active posters) WOULD be starting the topics? And people try to accuse T of spinning stuff. Jeeze.

Nobody on this board brought it up until someone from the University said they were considering playing a regular season game and post season games in the new gym. Am I right or wrong? Think you are getting moderator and administrator mixed up.

Correction, Bradley use the word "considering" only in reference to a regular season game.

"In addition, the men's basketball team will host one of its two preseason exhibition games and all potential home games in campus-site postseason tournaments on campus."

I don't have time to read 4 pages of post so not sure what has been typed prior to this...... I hope we all agree we should have been told of this proposal BEFORE we purchased our 2010-11 season ticket package. I would have still bought the season package, but we should have been told of the plans prior to the purchase.
