A lot of names keep being recycled by colleges hiring new coaches. Here is another one....
Nevada is reportedly negotiating with former Indiana, and recently fired UCLA coach Steve Alford for their open head coach position.

thx- just checking if anyone is paying attention ;)

What a hoot. :) !!! - I am paying attention and here's another one related to the first...

Nevada - Bill Musselman leaving for Arkansas - Steve Alford HIRED
Eric Musselman leaving Arkansas - not Bill Musselman.

And on a separate note: Wow - Steve Alford now the head coach at Nevada. Interesting... It's virtually like Alford leaving the power 5 or power 6
conference and returning to the mid-majors. Too bad the Missouri Valley / Mountain West Challenge wrapped up last season - maybe it'll come back and Steve Alford can return to Springfield, Missouri for a game or the two schools can schedule a home and home games.

Cincinnati announces the official hiring of John Brannen.

Wofford Names Jay McAuley Men’s Basketball Head Coach. He was previously the Associate Head Coach under Mike Young who was hired by Virginia Tech.

I think this'll bring our list up to date...

St. John's is meeting with Porter Moser tonight about their open head coaching job.

Just reading more from St. John's fans and media.... some believe this interest in Porter Moser is a fallback option and maybe a bargaining chip for St. John's.
They have been pursuing their top choice, Iona's head coach Tim Cluess, but negotiations have stalled as he is apparently holding out for a bigger deal. So maybe this move is designed to get Cluess to accept the St. John's offer. If so, Moser will return to Loyola.

There are multiple reports that Porter Moser has been offered the St. John's job. There are now unofficials reports he is nearing an agreement to accept the job.
This will be interesting.... St. John's was paying Chris Mullin $2 million per year. Moser's salary at Loyola was $420,000 per year, but he signed a 5-year contract extension a year ago and reportedly included an undisclosed raise. So it is likely that the St. John's offer would probably more than triple his Loyola salary. It's hard to believe he'd pass that up no matter how much he loves Loyola and loves living in Chicago.

As much as mid majors like the Missouri valley fans would like to believe otherwise, money talks. I’d like to believe moser would relish the challenge and competition of the valley, if I were him I’d take the pay raise for a losing proposition almost every time. Guys in that position end up recycling and ending up in similar situations later even if they fail after their first rapid advancements. It’s honestly my biggest worry about Coach Wardle for Bradley. If he jumps at a power 5 job next year following an outstanding season next year it would be a great opportunity for him regardless of follow up success at the next level.

Porter Moser has been offered.... Everyone now waiting for Moser's decision.... I bet Porter goes to St. John's for a variety of reasons..

St. John's interviews Loyola-Chicago's Porter Moser, offers him the job, reports say

Updated April 16, 2019 12:49 AM

Has St. John’s decided on a new basketball coach?

The University met with Loyola-Chicago coach Porter Moser on Monday and, according to multiple reports, offered him the position late in the evening. There was no comment from Moser on whether he would accept the job. St. John’s officials did not respond to texts seeking comment.

Porter Moser was just given a nice pay boost and extension thought to be closer to $1 mil
and he just plunked down (or pledged to plunk down) $2.5 million for the Ricketts' mansion near to Michael Jordan's $15 mil mansion- https://www.chicagotribune.com/class...306-story.html

Mullin was getting $2 mil per year and still has 2 years left so St. John's has to buy that out.... I suspect they're prepared to throw a $2-2.5 mil offer to lure Moser, but Porter doesn't have any recruiting connections out east...so maybe he won't feel like it's the right fit and he knows other good jobs could come along....

St. John's fans are not excited about this potential hire. First, they thought they were going to get Rick Pitino. Then they thought St. John's was such a much better job that they would lure Bobby Hurley away from Arizona State. But Hurley turned them down. Then they were confidant they would land Tim Cluess, the successful head coach at Iona. He was born in Queens, the same neighborhood as St. John's U. He played college ball at St. John's under legendary coach Lou Carnesecca. And fans thought there was no way he'd stay at Iona when St. John's was offering more than a million dollars more than he is earning at Iona. But he also balked at their offer. So after all those strikeouts, fans think the SJU AD and administrator lowered their aim a bit to increase their chances of not striking out again.
I think Moser can be successful at SJU, but it will probably take some time. And the fans there are not very patient. There is a lot of talent in New York, but Moser has no recruiting connections there. That was one of Chris Mullin's weaknesses, and it doomed him to failure. It was reported last night that Moser was making calls to find out what assistants might be available who do have NYC recruiting connections. That suggests he may be leaning toward taking the job.

Here is more evidence that maybe none of these reports about Moser and St. John's can be relied on. Here is a short article by Big East blogger Adam Zagoria, whose information is usually reliable.
He starts out by reporting the Moser is "wavering" on accepting the St. John's job. But then he goes on to cite a source claiming that Moser was never actually offered the St. John's job! But then he cites a second source that seems to dispute the first source and says Moser apparently was offered the job but will turn it down!
Then he cites other sources that claim the other top candidate Iona coach Tim Cluess was never offered the job either, despite many others who have already reported that he was.
https://www.zagsblog.com/2019/04/16/st-johns-in-flux-as-porter-moser-wavers-on-taking-the-job/

The NY Post reported last night that Moser was offered the job-
https://nypost.com/2019/04/15/st-johns-coaching-search-porter-moser-lands-surprise-offer/

Adam Zagoria tweeted earlier this morning that Moser wanted to return home to Chicago and "meet with Loyola first before making any decisions".
https://twitter.com/AdamZagoria/status/1118133318128738310

Of course, that could mean several things- maybe he wants to give Loyola the courtesy of letting them know what he is planning to do, or maybe he wants to use the St. John's offer as a bargaining chip to get more money from Loyola.

There is one other subplot being discussed about the reasons for the Hausers transfer. Their best friend, Trevor Anderson, who played with them at Stevens Point High School (and was a one-time Bradley recruit) is now a walk-on at Wisconsin after he initially played a year at Green Bay. Some are speculating that the Hauser brothers want to play with their friend at Wisconsin, and that they style of play fits better with the style Coach Greg Gard plays there. We should soon see if Wisconsin pursues them. They appear to have enough available scholarships.
