What might have been....
What might have been....
There have been a couple so-called Bradley fans who have derided Remy Abell and denied the obvious fallout when Bradley lost him in the coaching change. They said he is not a D1 player, that Geno could recruit better players, and they mocked the idea that he might have helped Bradley from becoming the laughingstock that they have become.
So let's revisit a few facts about Remy-
First, the claim that Geno can or already has recruited better guards is easy to de-bunk. Most of Geno's guard recruits, even the few that haven't left after just 1 or 2 seasons, have been busts.
Remy Abell, in his first 2 college seasons, played on not one, but TWO Sweet 16 teams at Indiana!
Indiana won 27 & 29 games in his 2 seasons (11-7 and 14-4 in the Big Ten), and Remy contributed on both of IU's extremely successful teams.
Last year, after he left Indiana, they dropped to 17-15, and 7-11 in the Big Ten. Probably a coincidence?
Now at Xavier, despite predictions by the haters that he would fail, he has started every game, been Xavier's most consistent player, played the 3rd most minutes on the team, and is 3rd on the team in scoring at 10.2 ppg.
More impressive, in Xavier's first 13 games, he is shooting
56% overall, one of the higher shooting percentages in the country for a guard! And he is now shooting 41% from three, which beats anyone Geno has had at Bradley in the last 3 years!
He also has a 3.0 to 1.0 assist to turnover ratio, which is also far better than anyone Geno has had-

Remy has been the most consistent player all season for Xavier, and he keeps getting better. He has lead Xavier in scoring their previous 2 games prior to tonight's game, and his scoring average keeps climbing. Over Xavier's last 5 games prior to tonight, his scoring average is a team-leading 12.4 ppg.
And in a late game tonight, Remy helped lead Xavier to an upset win over #25 ranked Georgetown 70-53.

Remy played a team-high 33 minutes, had 12 points, was 4-9 from the field, made 2-3 from three, and played great defense, as he always does.
Xavier is now 10-3 and 8-0 on their home court, and all 3 of their losses were close losses to good teams away from home.
So do you think he might have helped Bradley?
