Nope, doesn't bother me at all, unless they act like theirs is the only right POV.
To my knowledge, Coach Les has never posted an opinion of any kind here or on any message board.
But are you suggesting that Coach Les should listen to the posters on message boards before he takes a point of view or makes decisions?
I am sure there are some posters who believe they are more qualified to make decisions, but I don't think so.
I think Jim stated he broke team rules. Other than that I do not know.
I also do not think that 90% of kids are receiving free rides either though.
Certainly you understand that as a representative of the University and the basketball program, the players must be held to a higher standard.
no. but you inferred it was no big deal.coach les went public and suspended tb for the third time this season.obviously by his actions coach les thinks it was more than what u stated.do you agree with coach les suspending tb?
After talking to some team officials, and BU admins last night, I can tell you that they did not think the actions of TB were anywhere near as serious as many hysterical posters on message boards tried to make them out to be.
I'm sorry da coach but when you and others like tulip try to sugar-coat this as being "blown out of proportion" and "no big deal" I find that to be a load of cr@p! I don't think the "message boarders" that oppose your point of view are being hysterical. Rather, I think we have a high level of integrity and love for our university. And we certainly DO NOT like seeing one player destroy the integrity of the team, the coach, and Bradley University. This situation and others that TB have been involved in are an embarrassment to BU. This stuff might be OK at SIU, ISU, Tennessee, Kentucky, or Kansas but I do not want to see it at Bradley!
You say it is "no big deal" but Coach Les thinks otherwise. It was obvious that he was not too happy about what TB did when questioned by Snell on that post game show. He seemed disgusted, disappointed, and at the end of his rope with TB. It's rumored that TB might get a 3 game suspension. Is that "no big deal"? This kid has had 3 transgressions in one season (that we know of). Why don't his team mates take a stand with this kid? Are they that soft and timid? Is TB that tough and intimidating to his team mates? Or do his team mates just not care that one of their best player has let them down on at least 3-4 occasions this year? These guys need to show up at his dorm as a team and "set TB straight"!!!!! This cannot be allowed to continue!!!!! I'm embarrassed and many alumni and posters on this board are embarrassed by TB's actions!!!!! And you should be too....... I'm shocked that you are not.![]()
What is going to do stay home and repent? What are you afraid of? That he'll take your girl. Come on! Are you telling me fraternity parties are full of trouble? If so what were you dong at one?
B4L, it is not going to get out of control...settle down....
or have you NOT noticed that this happens at every other schoool, and ONLY at BU is it getting penalized!!
3 suspensions...just curious...at what point would you consider things getting outta control?
Right now JL appears to have control becuase he gives appropriate suspensions for HIS team rule violations. Thats good.
But many fans AND JL DON'T want to see anything get outta control and how long before he quits suspending him and says "enough is enough" ?
And MOST BU fans could care les about what is going on at other schools or who else is doing these things......we want BU to be held to the highest standard and I applaud JL for attempting to do that. As my MOM used to say...if everyone else is jumping off the bridge does it make it safe and OK for YOU to do it?

No I'm saying that is where trouble usually happens so why even chance it? There is what two weeks left in the season, is it worth it?

Exactly...go to the bars...go to the parties but "buyer beware".......you could be the most innocent person there but get involved in something that will cause you trouble.
Not much good happens after midnite.....
Its a risk reward situation.
I don't necessarily agree with that DUBrave. In fact, in today's controlled campus environment there is probably a lower likelihood of trouble at a fraternity party than at an off campus bar.
Dogs this was definitely well after midnight as I was at the front door helping with security. After we didn't let him and a couple others in, he got into a car with a girl and left.
This day and age with task force from the state police coming to campus virtually every weekend or every other weekend, fraternity parties are getting shut down pretty frequently and many people end up with tickets. Does anyone want to wake up the next morning and read about more athletes ending up with drinking tickets for being at a party that got busted? I don't. It happened once either last semester or spring of last year and it made major news in the PJ Star because they are athletes so they represent the university more to the public than your normal college student.
Ok so you think these things that were said were appropriate?
There were anonymous message boarders saying-
-What TB did amounted to "sexual harassment" and that he was laible for lawsuits and legal action against him. For anyone who actually believes this, please look up the legal definition of "sexual harassment". (Reality-what TB did doesn't even come close).
-there were some hysterical posters claiming that what TB did was a violation of the law! They claimed it's illegal to take someone's picture on private property without getting their permission. This is, of course, ridiculous. If this was true, everyone of us who has ever taken a picture at an amusement park, a sporting venue, restaurant. etc (all private properties), is also guilty, and we've all done it thousands of times. Even newspapers take pictures and publish them without getting people's permission. This is simply not any legal issue at all, and certainly is not a violation of any law.
-there were people demanding that TB's actions warranted expulsion from school (reality- they were never close).
-there were claims that TB's actions violated multiple student and athgletic codes of behavior. (Reality- nothing TB did comes close to meeting the definitions of the codes that were cited)
-there were demands that the coaches be fired, immediately.
-even Bradley's SID was held responsible by one poster
No, I think it's obvious now that people who saw this as a much more minor transgression were the rational ones. I was the first to predict that Coach Les would suspend TB Friday night, and I was right. Many posters I have had private communication with can confirm this, but it's also right in this TB thread. I am not saying what TB did wasn't inappropriate, as it was, but it never rose to the level of what was being accused. And in the end, all these hysterical rantings about legal issues, expulsion, violations of athletic and student codes, and sexual harrassment were way off base. Sorry we can't all see that. I have no problem if anyone disagrees, but I just wanted to make everyone aware that the BU administration agrees with me on this.
Guilty of immaturity. "Mad" magazine type of immaturity.
Many college 20 year olds suffer from the same affliction, as due some adults! Some even go onto being VP's of big companies!
First time problem, no start. Second time problem, reduced playing time. Third time problem, go sit in the corner with a time out and think about it.
Biggest problem I had with this episode is taking a person's picture, with out their consent, and sending it out into the 'ether'. A college professor is not a public figure. I don't think I would have enjoyed a customer or co-worker taking my picture at my workplace during work and then sending it out to the world.
Replace the word 'suspension' with "being grounded", and the incident isn't as big a deal as its being made out to be. ;-)
Hopefully the aspect of letting his team mates down will be a bigger deterrent than the reaction of our Forum members.
