I highly recommend watching this one..... the quality is good and the game was fantastic.
If you are an ISU fan however, I do not recommend it.
It is great watching all these old videos. Thanks again to Dub and Tommy!
I don't mean to be picky, but this one labelled 1985 MVC Tournament Semi-Final is actually the 1986 MVC Tournament semi-final game at Tulsa.
It was Bradley's 32-3 season of 1985-86.

Good catch, Coach! And please, be picky as much as possible. If you see label errors or if there are issues with the video, let me know and we can try to get them fixed. I know there are some sync issues with sound, but I haven't been able to figure that one out yet, but will keep trying to find a solution. So far the tech support for the software hasn't been much help.
I was at that game. It was a great game, if you are a Bradley fan. It was played in the UNI Dome, their covered football stadium. Before they built their current basketball arena, they laid a court out in front of one of the sideline stands, and put up some smaller temporary stands on the other side of the court. It was a difficult place for visiting teams to play.
It was UNI's senior night, and the attendance of 8,074 was their largest crowd of the year.
Bradley was not a very good road team that season, and were just 4-8 on the road prior to that game. If they had lost that game, they would have fallen to 9-8 in the MVC and would have been out of any postseason consideration. But Bradley dominated UNI virtually from start to finish and won by 22 points, 71-49, in their best road performance of that season. UNI was 22-6, 11-5 in the MVC coming into the game, and were ranked #25 in the country.

They had two future 1st round NBA picks- Paul Pressey, who played 11 seasons in the NBA, and Steve Harris, who played 5 seasons in the NBA, plus terrific point guard Mike Anderson (currently head coach at St. John's), center Greg Stewart, who was the MVP of the 1981 NIT, and a bunch of other quality players.
It was the final season Bradley played their home games in the Fieldhouse, and this game was for the MVC regular season championship. I won't reveal the final score of the game, but the game went to overtime, and was one of the most exciting games in Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse history. Multiple Bradley players fouled out, and it turned out to be backup center Kerry Cook's greatest game.

Which style do you like better, Dub?
I guess I'm old fashioned, but I prefer the old style with more finesse and less of the physical banging. The games in the 1980's and 1990's had more passing and movement, IMO, and involved all the players and not all the isolation and one-on-one play we see today.
Here is a bit of trivia that demonstrates the difference-
Last season, Roman Penn lead the MVC in assists with 5.6 apg. And only one player in the MVC has averaged over 6 assists per game in the last 20 years, and that was Adam Emmenecker who averaged 6.2 apg in 2007-08.
But in 1987-88, Bradley's Anthony Manuel averaged 12.0 assists per game, and he wasn't even tops in the country. Avery Johnson of Southern University lead the country with an average of 13.3 apg. There were many assist records set in the 1980's after assists started being kept as an official NCAA stat in the 1983-84 season, because offenses generally had more movement, cutting, and passing. Some of those records may never be broken.
Here are all the NCAA Division I players who have ever achieved 20 assists in a game (note Bradley's Anthony Manuel is on the list). There are 22 of them, and 18 of them were between 1985 and 1995. Only 3 have occurred since 2000.

that’s a very interesting question. The short answer is that I prefer whatever style results in a Bradley W.
I can appreciate both styles, and I was always a skinny kid so I prefer the finesse game (to play) since I could get pushed around otherwise.
Watching as a fan tho, I can also appreciate the all-out effort and athleticism in the modern game. What gets frustrating is how much change there is from game to game or ref to ref in terms of what a foul is. In the old style, contact = foul. Now, it depends on the day, the ref, the league, player’s position in the lineup, etc. to me it’s made the game more subjective.
