2009 BU commitment- Jordan Prosser

Agree 100% MR. I think the funniest thing I read was on one of the Illini forums that said Prosser picked BU because it was clearly the better program. Just think, this could have been Matt Roth last year. Oh well. His loss. He may be reconsidering things when Tom Crean recruits over him the next 3 years.

But I digress. This is a Jordan Prosser thread. This really, really gets our 2009 recruiting off to a great start. Often times, it just takes one domino to fall to get every other top target to fall into place. Let's hope JP was that domino.

Prosser is a great get, but I think Simms-Edwards would be an even bigger coup. They'd make a great local tandem. I hope your line of thinking is right, Mike.
 
Great job JL and staff. JP sounds like the type of kid who can step in and make an impact right away. IMO this is even bigger because he is a local recruit. Many college coaches catch h**l for not being able to recruit the local talent.

Haven't seen this info yet and thought it worthy of its own thread.

Van Coleman is regarded as possibly the best recruiting analyst in the business.

He has Jordan Prosser WELL into his top 100 prospects for 2009 at #71, ahead of players headed to the likes of UCLA and Indiana. And miracle of miracles, that list was updated less than two months ago, and JP was STILL in the top 100 even though he was already clearly considering lowly BU.

Coleman also has Prosser listed at 6-9 and 225. Called this commitment "huge."

So when's the last time Bradley landed a Hoopmasters Top 100 recruit?

To see their rankings, in the right side blue column, set the search for 2009 HS and click Go right below the window. As Brocks pointed out, Jordan is ranked #71 nationally in the Hoopmasters Top 150. He is the only MVC recruit in the Top 150 for the class of 2009, so far.

Nice idea to post the Eureka schedule DC. I dont go to many HS games, but I will definately make the effort to go to Eureka to see Prosser.
 
Prosser seems like a good recruit for BU. I've never seen him play so I really don't know one way or the other. However, he does fit the profile of a guy that has been successful in the MVC and a guy BU has barely missed out on in the past (Koch, Grimm, Vershaw, Fay, etc.)

Obviously Coach Les' sticktoitiveness paid off here. He got to Prosser early and stayed on him. I have no idea if he is a better player than other MVC recruits but, again, he sounds good enough.

We probably really won't know until about 2-3 years how good the kid is. I just want to start finishing better than .500 in the league. Hopefully that starts this season and continues.

That actually started in the 2005-2006 season when Bradley was 11-7 in the league, followed by 10-8 in 2006-2007.
Bradley has been .500 or better now for 3 straight seasons.
Last year's 9-9 was an abberation due to injuries to key players.
If you were waiting for Bradley's upswing, you missed it.

If the recruiting boards are correct JP is the type of player that should be able to contribute right away and contending for a stating spot when he gets to BU. This is not a recruit that needs a lot of time to work on his game, not a red-shirt candidate, not a project. He should be a 4 years contributer for us and we'll be able to see how good he is from the word go.:mrgreen:

I nominate this post for understatement of the year. BU hauls in a national recruit with B10 offers and it "seems like a good recruit"?

I'm not a math major but how is going from 11 wins, to 10 wins to 9 wins considered an "upswing"? If that's the best we expect/want from this program I'm glad I "missed" the so-called "upswing".

Am I a bad fan if I shoot for better than 10-8 or 9-9 in the league and 4th or 5th place finishes? I'm amazed some fans don't desire and push for some 13-5 and 14-4 type seasons. I don't expect them every year but 9-9 every year isn't really considered an "upswing". I have no problem with a "down year" every now and then being an 8-10 type year. I get it. But I guess having higher standards is bad.

It does seem like a good recruit. One doesn't know if the kid is good at the college level or not until he plays in, like, actual college games. I realize it's my nature but I tend to make observations based on performances, facts, and data--not on hype and opinions.

As I said--at this time it "seems" like a good recruit. If Prosser comes to Bradley and excels and leads BU to titles then my feelings will be valid. If he comes, stinks, and BU middles about then I guess I would be wrong. No one knows. The kid hasn't even played one game of his senior year in high school, much less a single college game.

It's certainly cool for some fans to get all excited and fired up about recruits. That's obvioulsy ones right. I'm just not that type of fan. I've been burned before by hype. I like to see results first. Nothing wrong with either way really.
 
sounds like you need to stay away from the recruiting then bbfan. for fans recruiting is all hype and speculation. maybe you should wait until the season starts and "performance" is happening before you read or post on this board.

for me good "performance" in the recruiting scene is getting higher rated players. that's all we can hope to achieve in recruiting.... get the players we think may do better in the college game.

sit a few plays out on this thread if you know what i mean.

What isn't going to be alowed is for the "Debbie Downers" to hijack any thread with positive Bradley news and try to turn it into a negative. Anyone who wants to be glum and unhappy about Bradley's current situation and their future is welcome to it. In fact, there are entire internet forums that seem dedicated to such negativism.

This thread is about a "major basketball recruiting coup" (those are Dave Reynolds' words, not mine), and we intend to keep it on topic. Thanks.

That's okay . . . if I were a passenger in an out-of-control airliner, I'd want a pilot with your approach . . .calm, deliberate. It takes all types.
