2009 BU commitment- Jordan Prosser

sounds like you need to stay away from the recruiting then bbfan. for fans recruiting is all hype and speculation. maybe you should wait until the season starts and "performance" is happening before you read or post on this board.

for me good "performance" in the recruiting scene is getting higher rated players. that's all we can hope to achieve in recruiting.... get the players we think may do better in the college game.

sit a few plays out on this thread if you know what i mean.

Are you the coach demanding me to sit out? :) I never said one bad thing about Jordan Prosser. I said he seems like a good recruit. Is this considered a bad thing? Of course all teams get players they "think may do better in the college game". I don't know a coach out there who wants to get bad players.

I didn't realize fans all had to fit in the exact same mold or that some fans opinions matter more than others.

What isn't going to be alowed is for the "Debbie Downers" to hijack any thread with positive Bradley news and try to turn it into a negative.

He didn't turn it into a negative. He turned it into the truth. But I agree, let's stay on topic. God knows I get into enough trouble for that...

That's okay . . . if I were a passenger in an out-of-control airliner, I'd want a pilot with your approach . . .calm, deliberate. It takes all types.

If I were the pilot it would be out of control from the beginning :) It's cool that fans come in all shapes, sizes, feelings, etc. If they were all the same it would be boring.

What isn't going to be alowed is for the "Debbie Downers" to hijack any thread with positive Bradley news and try to turn it into a negative. Anyone who wants to be glum and unhappy about Bradley's current situation and their future is welcome to it. In fact, there are entire internet forums that seem dedicated to such negativism.

This thread is about a "major basketball recruiting coup" (those are Dave Reynolds' words, not mine), and we intend to keep it on topic. Thanks.

Da Coach. Come on dude. Where did I say anything negative about Jordan Prosser? Where did I say that I was unhappy about Bradley?

Please, take your emotion out of it and look at what was posted. If incorrect information was posted about Bradley basketball then I understand. But it wasn't. If something negative was said about Jordan Prosser than I understand. Again, it wasn't.

Nothing but good things have been stated about Mr. Prosser on this thread.

So anyway, back to JP . . .

I saw on one of the Iowa boards after it came out that Prosser verballed to BU that someone wrote, "I think we passed on Prosser."

That's hilarious, and you knew it was coming.

For those who've been around a while, isn't this JR Koch in reverse? If I remember correctly he came down to Bradley and IOWA too . . . with a slightly different result.

I don't think Koch came down to BU and Iowa. But Mark Vershaw did come down to BU and Wisky. I know Coach Mo and everyone involved where shocked when Mark chose Wisky. Turned out good for Vershaw.

As I said, whether Prosser turns out good or not, no one knows. But this is the type of kid Bradley has missed out on in the past. Prosser is obviously smart. He knew/knows BU is currently a better program than Iowa right now and that's tough to even debate.

Marcellus Sommerville also picked Iowa over strong interest from BU and Coach Mo. But we got back at them for that one, too.:D

True. It certainly helps to have Chuck Buescher working for you as opposed to against you. But that too is water under the proverbial bridge.

Iowa is just bad right now and while Lickliter was good at Butler, I don't see him making Iowa elite again.

Also note that among Coleman's "best of the rest" for '09 is none other than Milos Knezevic. If JL scores again this could wind up a ranked recruiting class, FWIW.

His listing for the 2009 junior college rankings includes both Dwight Buycks and Leon Powell in his top 17 jucos for 2009.
Buycks has already verballed to Marquette, but Powell hasn't committed, yet.

Haven't seen this info yet and thought it worthy of its own thread.

Van Coleman is regarded as possibly the best recruiting analyst in the business.

He has Jordan Prosser WELL into his top 100 prospects for 2009 at #71, ahead of players headed to the likes of UCLA and Indiana. And miracle of miracles, that list was updated less than two months ago, and JP was STILL in the top 100 even though he was already clearly considering lowly BU.

Coleman also has Prosser listed at 6-9 and 225. Called this commitment "huge."

So when's the last time Bradley landed a Hoopmasters Top 100 recruit?

I think I remember reading that Rashad Austin was no. 54 in his class.

We will never know, but it could have turned out even better had he gone to BU.
I think Patrick O'Bryant is supporting evidence for that, as I am confident had POB gone to Wisconsin or Minnesota, he'd have never seen the floor for a couple years, and by the time he graduated, he'd have been looking to Europe to play,
but at BU he got the floor early, got to play an important part in the game plan and offense,
and has already earned a few million in the NBA as a result of it.

Anyone know what team Mark Vershaw is playing for, and how many years he stayed in the NBA?
In fact, how many big men from Wisconsin have made it in the NBA?
Actually, here's a better question....can anyone even name a big man from Wisconsin who has ever even played a single game in the NBA.
it IS possible, but I doubt anyone can do it without looking it up.

Hey, one last question...name a Missouri Valley team that has had as many players play in the NBA as Big Ten Wisconsin has?
Answer..... you guessed it, Bradley...

Obviously we never know. I try not to play the "what-if" game. It doesn't do any good. Mark had a nice career at Wisky, played in a Final Four, got a degree. Good for him. He isn't anything like Patrick O' Bryant as a player and vice versa.

I have to agree....this is all about opinions and we should take em all for what they are...opinons.

I am excited about JP but also understand, in the back of my mind, nothing is a given.

I guess what some are saying is its time to celebrate and "worry" about results later.:) I mean alls we have now are numbers and hype so lets have some fun. If that isn't your cup o T...I respect that.

You're all talking about height like it's a sure measure of their skill.

All I have to say to that is 'Dave Collins' and 'Daniel Ruffin'.

I can understand where BBF is coming from but maybe thsi wasn't the time to take it so deep and personal by some on the board. I am very excited to have JP cioming to BU but one never knows how hard he is going to be willing to work to make himself better. From everything I have heard of this young man I really do not believe this will be the case here but one never knows. As I have said before look at JC and the difference in how he did each of his first 3 years at BU. Agood first year but then didn't think he had to work too hard for his soph season and rode the bench. This made him realize what it woudl take to be the player everyone thought he could be and it turned out great for him his junior and senior season.
I hope JP has watched and learned from JC and even JJ as to what it takes to be great rather then just good. This is college and all of the players were stars on their teams.

I know I am late and back a few pages but.......................YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Jordan and welcome to the BU family....I will enjoy watching you at this next level....

Folks....we got a good one.....I am not predicting stardom or anything like that as one never knows...but....this youngman will make Bradley and the Peoria area proud...on and off the court.....

on a side note......thanks to those who texted me about this.....it is great news......

We know you were the one who taught Jordan all he knows, Mrcoachdude, so we had to tip you off ASAP.
In fact, I am surprised you weren't asked to be the new Bradley Director of Basketball Operations in an effort to land Prosser... ;)

All he knows....NOT!....;)

I saw him a while back and had my BU shirt on......maybe it helped :) .....I have another star coming up through the ranks.....maybe I can get a job offer on the next one :)
