All Valley Selections

Taylor Brown is one of the best players in this conf. when he is on the floor, the suspensions hurt him, Sam could have been on the 1st team but I think the players that were on it deserved it as well, DSE should have been on the all freshman team but mistakes are made so now he needs to show them by having a great tour.

The biggest prize left is the MVC Tourney Championship which in all accounts is still up for grabs. That one is a team effort not an individual one. If we win that one who cares who got POY or 1st team. How many great players have said they would trade in their MVP awards for a championship!

i think when we have more success as a team the individual honors will follow.if we were one of top teams in the leagues. sammy would be first team and possible poy. taylor second team.

to the winners goes the spoils.

Whether it's right or not, DSE's snub doesn't come as a huge surprise to me. I think he is more of an "intangibles" type of guy, too. We all know how huge he is to our team and how much potential he has because we watch him every night, but I wonder how much credit he gets for that throughout the league. Otherwise his 5 points and 2 rebounds per night is what he's judged on.

The numbers can be a little misleading because Bradley plays with such a non existent bench. Some of that is the reason SM, TB and Warren have such good stats. Someone has to score, rebound even on the worst of teams in America.

Taylor was suspended at three different times during the season. That had to hurt him some. Andrew Warren is not regarded nearly as highly outside of BU fans/nation as he is within.

A win over Creighton will give me a better outlook on things.
The frustration has been building little by little all year.

Sam certainly should have made first team........

I would like to hear a defense of putting each of the 5 guys on 1st team ahead of Sam, that doesn't use the argument about where his team finished (which then takes into account the other talent on the floor!)
In other words...on a stat by stat comparison, I think Sam's performances beat at least 3 of the 5 1st team guys...

I think the best response is 3 posts above...no bench so someone has to score...I'll also add his defense is questionable at best.

Chitown I often have to agree with but in regards to Maniscalco he is completely deserving of 1st team all conference. Your same arguement can be used just as much for Young, someone on Drakes team had to score.

Sorry but SM should have been on that 1st team.

I only hope our players look at these awards and see how they get no respect from the rest of the league and go out and kick some bu-- this weekend.

I think the Young pick of Maniscalco was probably more of a 'Lifetime Achievement' honor than from this year's MVC performance. Sammy's numbers are hard to argue with, and he plays on a better team than Young.

My take exactly. I usually don't put much stock into these things, but I really felt he was almost a lock. Perhaps the early season injury did him in. Either way, he has to be pre-season 1st team next year.

2 straight seasons with Eldridge on the All-Defense 1st team. Man oh man what can they be thinking?

You took the words out of my mouth... OE is likely the most over-rated player the valley has seen in quite some time.

Sam almost shot as well from 3-pt land as OE did from the field. OE had a sub 1 A/TO ratio. OE shot 39% from the field in valley play and lost the ball more than he created shots for his team... Sam shot 50% from the field and for every ball his lost, he created 4 points for his team and Sam outscored OE by about half a point. OE did have a rebound over Sam a game, and at the end of the day, OE is no better guarding a 2-guard than Sam is guarding a PG. I guess all that chest beating, trash talking, and shot chucking got OE somewhere... but he has yet to be the best player on his own team.

How many times has Osiris been preseason POY? And now he has gone 4 seasons without the real POY prize. Will he taste an NCAA game?

I'd take him on the Braves in a heartbeat. Jim Les wanted him real, real bad.

Yeah, I want players who help me win, not those who only look out for themselves. I would much rather have ILSU players like Champ Oguchi, or Dinma, both of which outperformed OE the last two years. I don't ever want a player who calls himself (or would allow himself to be called) 'King.'

I agree. With the right coaching and the right system Osiris could have been a star -- a REAL star. Instead, he will go down as one of the most over-hyped and under-achieving MVC players of all time. A real shame! :(
