Bradley 83 Creighton 92 - Final

At the end of the night, I go with Coach Dale: "If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your potential, to be the best that you can be, I don't care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book we're gonna be winners."

I agree. That's why I didn't complain about the coach last year, or this year. I see the effort.

Cup board is not bare it's just we have a little too much of one thing and not enough of others. This is not a balanced team and unless you have NBA talent those weaknesses will be exposed in this conference. I believe Geno has done the best he could under the circumstance and JL because he had the recruits (Abel and Harrison) plus SM, would have had a more balanced team. What's wrong with that folks? I'm pass the firing and have moved on. I would suggest everyone else do the same and because there's not much anyone of us on this board can control as much as you may wish. I'm 100% behind Geno and the team.

GO BU!

nice job SFP...

Hey if they're not allowed to discuss it on here, where else are they going to?

Yes.....where else are people going to discuss how "great" people over here thought Bradley would be if there was no coaching change. I guess all of those claims were deleted before I got a chance to see them.

My simple comment about not thinking we played hard was clearly stated to be referring to the SIU debacle. Yet it was taken out of context and used as an example of some kind of generalized criticism toward the team. There are some who want to try to make a false case that some of our posters are now hypocritical for such criticism, when it doesn't exist.
As I've said before, the only hypocrisy is from those who reveled in criticizing and condemning every coaching move, every timeout, every substitution, every game plan, and every action (including foot stomps) by the previous coach and assistants, and who are now absolutely intolerant of anyone who has any comment now.

2 things...

One, it is fair to say year 1 vs. 9. Geno is in his first year at Bradley. Jim was in his 9th year. Just because someone coached before it isn't like he brings all his players with him. I don't understand why that is not easy to see.

Secondly, where in my post did I say the "cupboard" was bare. I never said that.

I feel 1 vs. 9 observation is not fair. GOOD coaches can evaluate talent and play the best players at the best spots along with a good rotation. Geno has good players on the floor but just becuase they don't play to "his style" would mean he can only coach a certain style.

As to the "Bare Cupboard" I did not mean you specific... just tired of past post referring to this.

Sometimes it takes returning players a year or 2 to adjust to a new coach and his new system. A good example is Stan Albeck's first season and his 2nd season. The returning players from the 32-3 season stayed and 2 years later they were back in the Big Dance.

Same hipocrisy in posting by pro Mo and pro JL folks that existed when JL took over for Mo...and which will happen again, heaven forbid, if GF gets replaced by another coach 9 years from now with a similar record as JL produced.

I suspect the people who were criticing JL would do the same with GF after 9 years on the job with similar results to JL.

The only people who take intentional shots at GF now are ones who are still emotionally attached to JL and his departure, or, who didn't want GF to get the job. No other reason to take shots at GF after 5 games with the line up he has.

BU players may receive gentle criticism for not trying or putting out max effort. That is within their own control, no matter what their physical/mental ability to play basketball is. If they want/expect unconditional fans, this is the minimum they need to deliver.

PS BU's problems wouldn't be solved with SM and RA on their team. Look at the talent BU has had in the previous couple seasons WITH SM and/or AW or TB on the floor with WE... They may not still be looking for their 1st MVC win by now, but, would not challenge for top of MVC....since they never did before.

Very well said!

Commenting on the game or the results does not equal "taking shots at Geno". Lets stop painting anyone we don't agree with as being attached to the past. That is ridiculous, and an intellectually lazy and shallow argument.

Final warning...feel free to comment about the games, team, etc. No further negative comments directed toward other posters.

Well, in my opinion, I think he made some valid points. He did not say everyone was that way.

He was also correct, at least with how I view the situation, that I will call GF out the same way I did with JL if he does not right the ship in years 3, 4, 5. It is not personal. It's about how he does as a coach.

I think some felt every comment about JL was somehow personal. It was about the coaching, not the man.

People aren't seeing the whole picture. With JL at the helm, this site tolerated exponentially more criticism of JL, and criticism that was much more biting than the "Jalen needs to D up" type comments of this year. It kept escalating to the point where it was personal and hateful. People weren't banned, at least in my opinion, for having a problem with JL. People were banned for being *****s. I would assume if someone started being just as *****ic with post after post after post of hateful attacks towards GF, the same hammer would fall. Am I wrong?

Depends who you ask I suppose.

Regardless...after a W tonight, we can focus on that :D
