Creighton Loses/P'Allen Benched

tornado

Nebraska beats Creighton 54-52.
Creighton struggles to score, and although P'Allen Stinnett is said to have some injury to his wrist, it is more a behavior issue that is keeping him from starting and playing.
The announcers said he was benched by Altman for behavior issues.

"Altman did not start Stinnett against the Trojans (UALR), saying the player
had failed to take care of some responsibilities. Stinnett sat out the first four
minutes, then was ineffective for much of the 24 minutes he played in the
game. Afterward, Stinnett called the situation "touchy."
That's fueled outside speculation of a rift between coach and star player.
Altman said Thursday that Stinnett "has a lot of areas he needs to address."
Asked if any additional disciplinary action has been taken against Stinnett,
Altman replied, "No, not yet."
Whether Stinnett plays tonight is a subplot for the third meeting between
Altman and Nebraska coach Doc Sadler."

Stinnett remained benched the whole game.
Dotzler, Witter, and Carter combined for 14 turnovers. CU 24 TO total.

Shoot like we did tonight and we run away with this league but I need to see how were going to do without Egolf. He was our spark plug ever since he got into the starting lineup. BU went down hill tonight when he went down. I just hope it's not a reversion back to games 1 & 2 when Egolf was on the bench. Only time will tell, game by game basis right now.

IMO - Pretty soon Dana is gonna come to his senses and realize winning is more important. P'Allen: Net-Serve-Match.

Dana will get it figured out, with or without Mr. Stinnett. Dana can win either way, which is what I don't think Mr. P'Allen understands. He isn't bigger than that program. No way.

Yes they will win, but w/o him IMO doesn't translate to winning the conference...

He's a big part of their offense and they run many plays through him...

Losing him is pretty big, especially when its a situation like his where its iffy on a will he play or won't he...

Just a little different than an injury situation....

All the more reasons these injuries p-ss me off to no end...

No sh*t...does it ever end w/ us?

Years we are supposed to compete for the title of recent memory:

A.P goes down

Phil Gilbert goes down

JC goes down

Daniel Ruffin goes down

Andrew Warren goes down

Are we going to have to add Will to that list?

I mean thats just terrible luck there...

All teams have injuries and NO one will feel bad for us but you are correct. It gets old. REAL old. I'd like to go through ONE year with no "drama" on the hilltop.

P'Allen "clueless" according to this Omaha World-Herald story.

Stinnett said he couldn't comment further .... "I'm clueless at this point."

"The Creighton players were instructed not to comment on Stinnett's status"
"We'll figure that out when we get back," Altman said, "but right now that's just between 'P' and myself."

"In an answer to another question, Altman perhaps shed some light on where the situation rests. ....the (other) players....must continue to move forward if they want to make progress.

"There is a certain way we do things, and they are going to make some adjustments or we are going to have problems. I'm not changing."

Yes all teams do have injuries, but ours always seem to occur when we're supposed to compete for the Valley title or at least the top half of the conference.

I hope Dana keeps P'Allen p'riding the p'pine.

Seriously, though... P'Allen's a very talented player, but the coach has got to be the boss.

But the recent story sounds like it goes deeper...
the hint is that several players are not buying into the system.

He said "his team" has the identity crisis and (for P'Allen) that they aren't just not on the same page, "they don't even seem to be reading the same book."

Does anyone recall a couple years ago when some of Molinari's players didn't want to play Jim Les' system, and certain fans ripped JL mercilessly, criticizing him for not having control of his players, and laid 100% of the blame on Les, even after quotes came out proving some of the players "were not on the same page".
Recall - last seaons there were also numerous comments about the team's issues and lack of leadership.
Isn't this situation about the same, except these are all Dana's own players!

Absolutely true. But nothing like a star player's disciplinary issues dragging the whole conference down! I guess that shows how far this conference has come when you have a potential BCS type player bringing down a team with behavior problems. You normally only see this in the BCS conferences.

Then again, maybe Stinnett would fit in better at Southern Mississippi under Larry Eustacy!

It is very simple. When you as the coach have "issues" with the teams most talented player it will be a long year. You may still find a way to win, but it will be tough to enjoy it.

I don't know about Mo's players, but you may be talking about Danny "I play for myself and the scouts" Granger
