My opinion on Wilkins is this: He verbally committed to BU already and has not said anything to the contrary so I take him at his word. I am a "loyalty guy". If he chooses to leave BU at the altar by going back on his word than he is not a man; he is an enemy and I wish him nothing but bad luck and would hope he never plays one minute of college ball.

I'm also about loyalty, doing the right thing and taking a man at his word. I'll never wish bad things on anyone even if they go back on their word but they'll surely will lose my respect. A man has only one real thing in life between other men and that is his word. Lose that and what do you have? The problem I see in today's world is that people will say whatever they have to in order to feel good now instead of manning up and saying the truth. I do not know JW from Adam and he does not owe me a dime so I'll have zero hard feelings one way or the other, but I hope he has communicated his wishes already to JL. JL is a loyalty guy also! One of my favorite characteristics of a man!

False, Bradley has the potential and talent to make the tournament the next few years, I don't believe ISU does. And What do you gain out of being on a bottom of the Big-12 team?? Is it easier to win the MVC or get in the top tier of the Big 12??

1. We are getting new facilities next year too.
2. We have a great fan base too with top 50-60 attendance.
3. We WILL be better than ISU next year, I'm pretty confident in that.
4. You may be in the Big 12, but I believe this middle of the pack MVC team won the series against you.
5. I don't think we will be middle of the pack next year, so potential top MVC team over bottom big twelve team? Yes sir.
6. Even if we were middle of the pack again, you ask why would I pick middle of the pack MVC over bottom Big 12? Because why would I want to be on a team at the bottom losing most of my games in any conference?? "Well were at the bottom, but we're in the Big 12" doesn't make me feel any better, that just means we have a longer way back to the top because the teams are better. Losing isn't fun I don't care what conference you're in.

7. The fans here obviously care more for Wilkins and he would be more loved by our fans than at ISU, he would just be one of the boys there to most.
8. the MVC will be a multiple bid league again next year-book it.
9. JL's system is perfect for an athletic perimeter forward of his nature.
10. He will have instant playing time here too, so that's a wash.
11. He could very well be a #1 option here, probably not at ISU right away. What would impress NBA scouts more?
12. It's not like we have gotten blasted this year either, a few home collapses away from a decent season.
13. ISU just beat KSU. so what? We beat Illinois and UNI while they were ranked, so what?? We still weren't good enough in every other game.

I understand where your coming from and I'm probably just really biased here, but I see Bradley being a much better choice for JW. It's not that you having nothing to offer prospects, cause you definitely do. But I think in JW's particular case, we are a better option.

End of the day, doesn't matter what you or I think. I wish Wilkins the best in finding whatever place he feels most comfortable. Whatever school it is I wish him the best.

That my friend we can definitely agree on. I've said it before, it is smart of him to consider his options, and I certainly wish him no harm either way. I hope he chooses BU, but I hold no grudges if he doesn't. I would never wish harm on anyone. I hope he does what he thinks is best for him, like any of us would.

but any pledge, verbal, or even a Letter of Intent immediately become null and void and is meaningless if the student is UNABLE to enroll or qualify for scholarship (in the case of the LOI)...thus John Wilkins is NOT bound by any verbal....he can freely do as he pleases, and I strongly support the kid's right to decide what is best for him and his family...
(even if the choice is NOT BU and seems to be against his best interests).
After all, it is HIS choice, and I infinitely defend his right to pick as he wishes...I just hope he chooses wisely....

hmmm...most of your questions have been answered many times on this board...but here goes...

John Wilkins did give a pledge to come to BU and in the process turned down more than 50 other offers...and yes-- plenty of people have seen him play...probably in the hundreds of recruiters...
Even Coach Molinari told me personally he saw JW play in the Vegas AAU events and had "some nice words"...
Those "50 offers" were confirmed by many sources, as he was inundated with offers when he was playing AAU ball in numerous games during the July recruiting period of 2008.
He has also been seen and recruited in the Iowa open gyms and practices all year, and this has been undeniably confirmed several times by his coach...

as to what constitutes an "offer", then you can form your own opinion, but they range all the way from "we want you now and have a full scholarship & will build our program around you"...
to:
"maybe come and visit our campus and if it works out we'll find a way to open up something and you can play for us"...

Anyway, I personally have NO doubt that the 50 offers from last summer were legit, some requiring redshirt and some hinging on eligibility,
and the recent offers are likely all a bit softer and hinge on his willingness to come and visit and let his desires be known where he wants to play.

as for how good he is....that is subjective and I will leave to your assessment...

As far as his game, I have never seen him nor do I know anything about his game. But from what I've heard on here and read in articles he is the real deal.

From all the observations I've gathered from reading I would compare his game to that of Rashard Lewis. Kind of a long lanky perimeter forward with a good outside shot, ability to pass, and handle the ball. Can play both forward spots, is very athletic, but needs to get a little stronger to be a great rebounder but isn't bad at it now. Rashard is 6'10, JW is 6'9. All those qualities seem very similar to me...but then again I'm just going on hearsay so I really have no idea just speculating.

You are correct. Bradley has not been eliminated and are still in communication with JW.
One of those other schools has been eliminated, though.

Lol there is nothing else to do in an offseason but speculate. There are no games going on, so what else are we going to do in relation to Bradley basketball? It's just discussion and opinion, I'm not going to get too worked up about it or drive myself crazy though.

Ya it's tough to find stuff, all I found video wise was the brief clips of him dunking and shooting in the PJ Star interview I believe it was?? I guess I'll just take it as it comes, and trust he is really good. I trust the coaching staff and JL knows what it is doing. I hope people don't put an unbelievable amount of pressure on him to be unbelievable if he does come though, that's a lot for anyone.

"we are offering you a scholarship to play BB for us" with absolutely no ifs, ands, or buts, and no strings attached...is virtually unheard of unless your name is John Wall or Greg Oden...

Probably the vast majority of what people would call "offers" come with some particulars attached...
simply because if a school offers 5 or 6 kids (and there are some schools like Indiana who are reported to have 14-15 offers out there right now just for Class of 2010 players)....then what if they all say "yes"???
trust, me the schools don't want every kid who is "offered" to say yes right now, because they simply couldn't take them all..

so most times an offer goes with some qualifiers...
--if the kid is a top priority - "here's the offer - it's open for 72 hours, but if you decide later, we might still have it available"
--if the kid is less than absolute top priority - "here's the offer, but it is open only so long as we have yet to fill our needs...and if you call later, then it's possible the offer will have dried up.."
--or they might tell the kid clearly he is a 2nd priority so please keep your options open if you'd still like to come to BU and we'll talk next month..
--or we want you but need to see you on campus for a visit and need to see you work on your defensive game, or put some weight on...etc..

this is why some kids brag that they have 20 offers...but they still end up at somewhere like Ball State!!

Not sure how we got to the side barr issues:? Even with the if's, and's, but's, and all/any stings, a offer with terms is still a offer, right:!: Thats just the way it is in any thing in life. Your example of kids that got 20 offers , someone, either the kid did not except or the school pulled the offer. Happens all the time. Maybe there is if's, and's, but's and stings attached with BU's offer, that JW and his dad don't like and want no part of. Hell I don't know and I am not saying there is:!: I do agree that in many cases with players, there are terms that go along with their offers from schools:!:

As of now, All my :doubt:'s still remain unanswered. They are fair ones and are ones that I believe most or all BU fans take interest in, are concerned with, and would like to have a answer to, about a maybe future player After all it is our team and this whole JW thing has played out way to

I will say this, IF JW and his Dad don't want to jump on this BU train, and wait for another, then BU should not waste anymore time stopping a their station and move on to one that has someone who will:!: It's time to shit or get off the pot, JW:|

Ouch. Wow. I think what Danny Granger did to BU is worse than anything John Wilkins could possibly do, and I didn't even wish that on him.
