First game is amazing.... Howard vs Butler Co, Howard blew an 18 pt 2nd half lead then their star fouled out...
Terry Copeland (averages 19.4 ppg), an UNcommitted NIU transfer, had 31 pts on 14-16 & 11 reb, but he fouled out with 7 min left and Butler caught up.
Was fast-paced, back & forth down to the wire...then two separate desperation 3- pointer attempts that both went in sends it to overtime...then double OT

UPDATE- Howard overcomes 31 turnovers, plus the loss of their two best players fouling out, plus sending Butler Co
to the FT line for 37-of-38 (82 FT's total in this game)....
Final score Howard 134 - Barton Co 128

College of Southern Idaho vs Walters State coming up

Going to second overtime. Butler player with game tied drove to the basket with about 6 seconds got clobbered twice, no call.

right off the bat, Ben Thornbrue with a nice block - announcers calling him "THORNBURG"

Halftime College of Southern Idaho 38 - Walters State 32, Thornbrue 5 pts, 3 reb, 2 asst 1 block

Live stats not working... but 30 minutes into the game with CSI up 10, they have not committed a single turnover yet!!

I will be watching. I have become a Ben Thornbrue fan

In the first semifinal game, Howard leads Trinity Valley 61-54 with 5 min left
Trinity Valley’s Braylon Wenger has 22 points
Some may recall Bradley offered Wenger but he chose Louisiana Tech -
********

Update- Howard College wins 72-66
They will play tomorrow for the Championship, hopefully vs College of Southern Idaho - the other Semifinal, College of Southern Idaho vs Gulf Coast State will start in half an hour or so.

for College of Southern Idaho Jalen Lyn & Ace Reiser are a combined 9-10 from 3-pt
so Ben Thornbrue is making sure he feeds the hot hands...
CSI leads 60-44 with 12 min left...
Gulf Coast's best guy, Trent Lincoln, the #1 rated guy in all of junior college ball - is sitting the bench with 4 fouls.
If this plays out, and CSI wins, then the Championship game tomorrow will be the #1 overall seed vs the #2 seed...

if anyone doesn't have or can't get ESPNU, let me know asap-
I can send you a direct link to free streaming...

UPDATE!!!
now they moved it to ESPNNews - here's a free link - LINK
as soon as the obscure lacrosse game is over, it'll be on ESPNU- prob 15-20 minute

early in the game but it's obvious the Howard game plan goes thru their big man Terry Copeland...
...who really looks and plays a lot like Chase Walker - big bodied, 6-9 low post guy who has a nice touch off the backboard,
who averages 19.7 ppg, 68% FG shooting, 7.7 rpg

confirmed that both Jalen Lyn and Ace Reiser - the two top teammates of Ben Thornbrue, are both open as
far as their recruitments status...
Ace Reiser reminds me a little of Jim Les... smart, good point guard, good outside shooter, was their conference
Player of the Year. 15 ppg, 4.5 apg, 47% 3-point shooter

HALFTIME SCORE
College of Southern Idaho 30 - Howard College 29

low scoring, intense defense, CSI finished the half on an 18-5 run after falling behind 24-12
At half, Ben Thornbrue has 3 pts, 2 rebounds, 1 asst

Tough ending to a fine season
College of Southern Idaho lost the Championship game to Howard 82-67
Ben Thornbrue ended with 21 pts, 3 reb, 1 asst
Refs with some very oddball calls down the stretch that hurt CSI

Howard College's big man Terry Copeland, had 23 points and 16 rebounds to lead Howard to the win.
His season averages are 19.8 ppg and 7.9 rpg.
He is still uncommitted and his only reported offers came last fall and are from low-majors like Bethune-Cookman and Jacksonville State.
Bradley has been recruiting him since last fall (see link below). He is originally from New Jersey and spent his freshman year (2024-25) at Northern Illinois. He only played in one game before an injury ended his season, so he has 3 more seasons of eligibility left.
