TAS Bracketology 2/28

I'm still waiting for a bubble team to play their way in.

Is it going to be *puke* Cincinnati of all teams?

Memphis just lost a terrible game to the Fightin' Penders.

I have been making money on betting on the Illini's bubble staying alive. Just cashed in on another, taking Houston +6 vs Memphis. LOL!!!!

Yeah, it seems like more teams are trying to play their way out this year than in...

I can't remember the last time the bubble was this weak!

UIUC oughta be real proud :)

Don't look now, but UAB is going to be the next bubble team to be squashed in their conference tournament...

Losing to Southern Miss by 18 w/ 1:40 left

And add the residuals from a better BracketBuster opponent which would have been televised...and a likely game against Wichita St instead of UNI on Saturday in St. Louis....Continue with the 'hmmmmmm' :D

Anyone notice that other than the great BB year we drew VCU, every year we have tanked the 3 weeks prior to our BB selection...?

Alas, we must settle for the current iteration of the bubble:

Next 2 in:
Utah St*
San Diego St
Georgia Tech

Last 4 in:
Florida
Illinois
Arizona St
Kent St*
Rhode Island

Last 4 out:
Dayton
Mississippi St
Mississippi
Wichita St

Next 4 out:
St Louis
UAB
Washington
Memphis

On the board yet (in order):
Cincinnati
Seton Hall
South Florida
Minnesota

I think Wake Forest is just ahead of this group. Their total body of work is just too superior to teams like the Mississippis and the CUSA schools, not enough teams can jump Wake.

22-10 (12-6)
RPI 45
SoS 55

5-4 vs. RPI Top 50
11-6 vs. RPI Top 100

Harrumph.

Including wins over Illinois, Northern Iowa, Wofford, and Home BracketBuster (likely tournament teams). The RPI and SOS may even be a bit higher had this thing played out that way. With the way the bubble teams are faring this week, I would almost have us as a shoe-in for the tournament.

Sure makes for a compelling argument that we are 'close' to being what we should be...but also sure makes for a real frustrating offseason for fans.

I adjusted the RPI/SoS to account for such things, so that's sort of a best-case scenario resume.

Our best wins would still be marginal and we would have still done nothing on the road, to be frank. We'd be ahead of WSU probably, but not by all that much. Then again, look where I have WSU as of the moment.

I got this sneaking suspicion that WSU is a lot closer to the top of the bubble too. Memphis & UAB losing today really helped them. Now we need San Diego St to lose, though they are playing a bad Colorado St team today and leading by 5 near the half. They definitely need to lose tomorrow at the latest.

And as much as I would like to see Illinois in the tournament, because I'm a Valley fan first, I'm hoping they lose tomorrow. :D

We also need quick exits by Florida, Mississippi, Mississippi St., Washington, Arizona St., the four A-10 bubble teams, and I'm sure a few others I'm missing. The point is that there will be plenty of fluidity in that bubble for the next few days.

C'here, Virginia Tech.

Georgia Tech just sealed the deal with a win over Maryland in ACC Tourney. Shumpert put the clamps on ACC POY Vasquez with a big strip of a 3-point attempt just before the buzzer that could have tied the game..............But I'm not sure Wake Forest will get a bid.

San Diego State just moved into Lunardi's "Last 4 In" with an upset win over #8 ranked New Mexico in the semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament. New Mexico just blew a chance at a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Couldn't have happened to a "nicer" guy than Alford! :D

And that should just about do it for Wichita St. Any possible slim chance they had to make the tournament probably fell by the waste side with this game, unless some BCS team pays the price which is highly doubtful.

Minnesota with a big win...still need more though.

I don't see Dayton at 8-8 in the A-10 getting in. Rhode Island may even need another win. I'm afraid Washington is going to make it 2 from the Pac 10.
