How bout a sell out...

I tend to be more that way. I don't jump. I definitely make noise when the time is right. But sometimes I don't even go to the student section...I just skip it entirely and go to the upper level to ENJOY the game rather than looking through people.

Edit: I did jump a little when I was a freshmen and somewhat as a sophomore. haha if that counts for anything

BU will always have a weak student section. i find it somewhat embarrassing at times...

I think that we have a pretty good student section...maybe not as great as '06 or the year following but good nonetheless. Again (its been said many times before) we draw pretty decently from our student body considering they either have to drive and pay for parking or ride a bus to the game.

I remember days when there was hardly anyone at that end of the court accept the band and cheerleaders.

The cheerleaders never left, the students will be back, and (no offense to the Alumni & Friends Band - cuz they do a bang up job) most important, (as far as noise goes) THE BAND will be back.

I think the athletic department does a poor job engaging the Greek community or other large student groups to come to the games, at least in my stint from 01-05. They always said 1/3rd of the campus is greek and I think besides once at the beginning of the season, Mo or JL would stop by a chapter meeting with a player or two asking people to come out. After that, nothing was really publicized to get people out to the games. All it takes is getting a few guys/girls from a house to go to the game and then a few more come and it builds from there.

We use to have to buy season student tickets to get a seat. What the %^#& happened to the student body. The shuttle system is not bad. What, it takes a little walk from your room and then a 5 minute bus trip? The parking fee divided between 4 people is???? I'd suspect that there are some people in the student body that love to go to games no matter what, those that only go when they are winning (fair weather fan) and some who do not like sports (which is fine) or a bunch of apathetic kids who would rather hide behind their video games and computer monitor then face reality.

Cut the cord and enjoy life. BU basketball is so much more then a basketball game. Guess what you get to interact with your community.

I'm more interested in seeing a sellout v Jays Wed. night

100% agree.

Oh and last year everyone complained because the students were away for ISU, SIU and CU... well from here on in we still host.... ISU, CU, UNI, WSU no excuses, each of those games along with Eville and Drake deserve over 10K and a sell out for UNI, ISU and WSU should not be out of the question.

As a member of the InterFraternity Council, I can tell you that Jim Les and one of the marketing guys came to what we call "Joint Council" which is a meeting of the Fraternity Board and Sorority Board with a representative from each house also in attendance. They tried to get the Greek community involved but it never caught on for some reason. After that attempt though there hasn't been much publicity with the Greek system, which is funny because I know of quite a few students that are Greek that go to the games whether we are winning or losing. Actually a large portion of the Marketing department at the games are Greek if my memory serves me correctly.

I know this doesn't mean a lot to some of you on here, but it does show that they made an effort to get the Greek community at the games. After all, Jim Les was Greek.

As far as parking goes, if you look hard enough, you can find free parking within a couple blocks of the stadium, I park there for just about every game unless a friend of mine who works at Carver gives me a ride and we park in the employee lot.

Jump a little???? As a freshman/sophomore??? pfft Correct me if I'm wrong but--
ticket costs $1. a buck per game, creak open that wallet.
free transportation (charter) to and from game. A free taxi/DD <--a very rare opportunity here, get on it.
With all the cash you're saving here why not pony up and have a few drinks?! At most colleges you couldn't have this luxury, so take advantage of it. Or you could just really man up and go nuts without the booze, that'd be impressive.

Sadly I'm pretty sure our best fan (out of the S.S.) from the past few years is somewhere near the Equality State right about now and as a result our entire S.S. looks like a chicken with it's head cut off out there. C'mon people- it's just one guy, even if he was the fan of the year 3 years running- someone STEP UP and LEAD this crew.
And what ever happened to body paint? Did they stop making it? Haven't seen that stuff in eons. Or perhaps one of those multi-colored clapper things? They have 'em at Dollar Tree I'm sure- oh wait, that would involve spending a dollar which is obviously ridiculous. So I would suggest Chuck e Cheese, where you could win it instead. (Perhaps tag along on a little sibling's birthday to avoid paying the entry fee) Signs too much effort too? Stop by Heuser and have the art people give you a hand.
Red Sea?? More like the DEAD Sea.

A Saturday afternoon game guys! They are the best to get started early and then hang downtown and have a few! If you are inclined to wait until the evening to get going you can head home and take a nap after the game. Games use to be events. DV never had to go to one Greek meeting to get the Greek system out in numbers. We use to buy a huge block of season tickets for the whole house no questions asked. It's cheap and very entertaining.

How to have fun...

1) Saturday you can wake up and have an early lunch
2) Head to a friends house and start having a few party favors
3) Head to the game
4) Go get a beer at the game
5) Go to your seat and watch a great game
6) After BU wins celebrate and head to another watering hole, if to young head to a friends place and celebrate some more
7) Get some food before you really head out
8 )Find a girl and go out again because you are in a great mood and hopefully so is she

You only have 4 years (for most) to live in an environment with so little responsibility except grades, living in a co-ed environment with so much time to socialize. Trust me it does not get too much better,:-P Step away from your Wii and Xbox 360 and start enjoying the things right in front of you. Time is ticking!!!!!!!

Boosh!

Saturday afternoon games are fun, but that family thing is at the Civic Center this Saturday, which means parking will be a complete impossibility.

Why'd you mention that? Now they have another excuse. Maybe the students have to be reminded that the bars on Farmington Rd will be open after the game.

I hope we don"t overlook Evansville on saturday as every game is important and the most important one is the next one you play.
Students need to show up and support your team , they are exciting to watch and represent the University well, now its your turn to show some support.

I look at it like this. I am from Peoria and BU basketball was one of the things I could not miss by going away to school. I have been a fan since I was old enough to understand and went with my dad my whole life. So when I came to BU I already had the knowledge and passion for BU basketball. I understand it is probably hard for kids to come to Bradley with no knowledge of our basketball team and become die hard fans...I guess it takes a little while to get involved.

I can't stand having to beg my roommates to go to games! It is like a last resort for most of them and ones that do go still have no idea about where we are in the MVC standings or how we are doing...or even who our big players are. Last year I had to talk to my professor to switch out 3 labs that occurred on game nights. BU basketball is the biggest thing in Peoria!

Are you serious about difficult parking in Peoria????

I am a cheap old man and never ever paid for parking in the parking garage or the land lot but there are two decks, two land lots for pay but even without that on a Saturday there are free parking spots all over the streets. There are tons of spots all over the place right next to the arena.

Even if you parked down by the old Sears store thats only what a 3 or 4 block walk... are you kidding me that a 4 block walk is to much or impossible.

All of you who use the parking as an excuse please grow a pair.

Just heard JL on the radio ask people to go eat at Avanti's but not go to the BU game on Saturday. He must not be to worried about attendance.;-)

These people that complain about parking never went to a game at the fieldhouse and had to walk a considerable way to the front entrance, talk about spoiled.

Remember the Creighton game in DV's first or second year. A snow storm paralized the city. I lived in W. Peoria and walked through mounds of snow to get their. Their was no parking on the side streets where I'd usually park. Spoiled is the perfect word. Now students hate to have to ride a bus down the hill. Not too far to walk on for an afternoon game either.
